We had the good fortune of connecting with Jenn Grubb and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jenn, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Honestly? It came from a deep frustration with how traditional corporations operate—where the people doing the real, meaningful work are often overlooked, and the profits stay at the top. I’ve never been someone who could thrive under rigid rules that only benefit higher-ups. I wanted to create something different—something rooted in community, connection, and contribution.

Starting my own business meant I could do it my way—building something that serves both the people who work with me and the families and businesses around me. I didn’t want limitations; I wanted impact. I wanted to create a resource that everyone—from a local mom looking for a fun event, to a small business trying to be seen—could use and truly benefit from.

This isn’t just a business. It’s a movement toward community care, local love, and shared success. That’s the heartbeat behind everything I do with The Buzzy B. 🐝💛

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My career hasn’t followed a traditional path—and I’m proud of that. I got pregnant at 16, which was scary and overwhelming. Back then, I desperately wished there was something like The Buzzy B—a resource filled with parenting tips, local events, community support, and real guidance for families of all kinds. I didn’t have that… so I built it.

My career path has been layered, messy, and meaningful. Working in law enforcement taught me how deeply people are hurting—and how much kindness and guidance are truly needed in this world. It also gave me patience, grit, and the ability to hold space for tough things. Then I became a teacher, which only deepened my love for kids, creativity, connection, and fun. That’s where I discovered the joy in making learning—and life—feel exciting and accessible.

So I combined those pieces: structure and support from law enforcement, creativity and heart from teaching, and my own experience as a young mom navigating it all. That’s how The Buzzy B was born.

What sets me apart is that this isn’t just a business—it’s personal. It’s a platform made with real parents in mind. It’s for the single mom with a screaming toddler in the back seat. It’s for the grandparent raising grandkids. It’s for the pregnant teen who doesn’t know what’s next. I want The Buzzy B to be the friend in your pocket that says, “You’ve got this… and here’s something free and fun to do this weekend.”

It hasn’t always been easy. I’ve been underestimated, ignored, and told “no” more times than I can count. But every obstacle sharpened my vision. And the lesson I keep learning? If you can’t find what you need—build it. And then share it with the world.

What I want people to know about The Buzzy B is this: it’s about community over competition. It’s about making parenting easier, more fun, and less lonely. It’s about bringing people together, not just around events—but around each other.

And this is only the beginning. 🐝💛

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh, I love this question—because if my bestie was coming to town, I’d be pulling out all the stops… starting with my very own guide section on www.thebuzzyb.com! 🐝 Believe it or not, I’ve mapped out half-day and full-day Colorado adventures that are perfect for locals and visitors. I’m talking hikes, hidden gems, small-town finds, and some seriously good eats!

Here’s how our week would buzz by:

🗓️ Day 1: Hello, Colorado Springs!
Start with brunch at Over Easy—because you can’t tour on an empty stomach 🍳☕

Head to Garden of the Gods for a jaw-dropping hike and photo ops 📸

Grab a light lunch or fancy tea at the Broadmoor, then stroll through Seven Falls 💦

Finish the day feeding giraffes at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo 🦒

🗓️ Day 2: Larkspur & Castle Rock Love
Begin with a cozy breakfast at B&B Café in Castle Rock 🍞

Hit the Philip S. Miller Park for the incline and a zipline if we’re feeling bold!

Explore local boutiques in downtown Castle Rock 🛍️

Dinner at Scileppi’s at the Old Stone Church—amazing Italian food in the most unique setting 🍝⛪

🗓️ Day 3: Waterfalls & Wildlife
Road trip time! Drive out to Helen Hunt Falls and then grab lunch at Ivywild School—because where else can you eat tacos in a converted school? 🌮

Afternoon visit to Bear Creek Nature Center

Evening picnic with a mountain sunset at Red Rock Canyon Open Space 🧺🌄

🗓️ Day 4: Go West, Girl!
Day trip to Cripple Creek: ride the train 🚂, visit the historic jail museum, and maybe try our luck at a slot machine

Grab dinner at Maggie’s and watch the wild donkeys roam the streets 🫏

Scenic drive back with playlists and pit stops at roadside photo ops

🗓️ Day 5: Falcon, Fountain & Family Fun
Visit a local farmers market or summer event (plenty listed daily on The Buzzy B, of course!)

Lunch at Bird Dog BBQ or a local mom-and-pop spot

Find a quirky little splash pad or park to relax and people-watch with iced chai in hand 🧋

🗓️ Day 6: Adventure + Art
Morning paddle boarding or bike ride at Quail Lake

Afternoon art fix at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center

Wind down with an outdoor concert, food truck night, or one of the 30+ events I list every weekend—because yes, there’s always something going on! 🎶🎨

🗓️ Day 7: Local Chill & Big Feels
Sleep in, then brunch at The Exchange

Shop at Heartshake Studios or Eclectic Co for local handmade goodies 💛

Hit up a community event, art walk, or farmers market (they’re everywhere!)

One last golden hour stop at Palmer Park for a final view and some reflection 💫

Truth is, Colorado is one of those places that gives you something new every time you explore it—from the peaks to the plains. And with 5 to 50 events happening every single day (yes, I track them all!), The Buzzy B is here to make sure no one ever runs out of things to do—or reasons to fall in love with where we live. 🐝💛

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
It might sound a little unexpected, but my shoutout goes to the experiences that showed me exactly what I didn’t want to become. Working within a system that didn’t value its people—where editors were undervalued, voices were stifled, and the focus was more on profit than purpose—was frustrating. But it was also the spark that lit my fire.

That experience gave me a very clear blueprint: to build something completely different.

The Buzzy B was born from that contrast. I wanted to create a platform where families felt seen, supported, and celebrated. A space that lifts up the community—not just financially, but emotionally, practically, and relationally. From pregnant moms to grandparents, and everyone in between—who doesn’t love discounts, freebies, and fun things to do?

So while I wouldn’t call it a traditional “mentor,” I’ll say this: Sometimes the greatest inspiration comes from being held back—because it pushes you to fly farther, and with purpose.
