Car Wash Foam Bin – Soapy, Sensory Fun for Little Mechanics!
Ingredients:
1–2 cups shaving cream (unscented or kid-safe varieties)
1–2 tbsp dish soap or bubble bath
1 cup warm water
Few drops blue food coloring or liquid watercolors (optional)
1 tsp glycerin or corn syrup (optional)
Directions:
1. In a bowl or directly in a bin, combine 1–2 cups of shaving cream and 1–2 tablespoons of dish soap (or bubble bath).
2. Add 1 cup of warm water to the mixture.
3. Whisk or stir the mixture gently until it forms a light and airy foam. Take your time to ensure the foam stays fluffy.
4. If desired, add a few drops of blue food coloring or liquid watercolors to the mixture. Mix gently to avoid deflating the foam.
5. Set up a washing station with the foam mixture in one bin and a rinsing station with clean water in another container.
6. Invite the kids to use the foam to wash their toy cars. They can dip the toys into the foam and scrub them with their hands or sponges.
7. After washing, let them rinse the cars in the clean water and dry them on a towel.
8. Encourage the kids to play and repeat the process with different toys for continued fun. They can experiment with washing dolls, trucks, or any other washable toy.
Tips & Variations:
– If you’re looking for extra slippery fun, you can substitute the dish soap with a squirt of bubble bath to create more bubbles during play.
– For added sensory exploration, let the kids mix in small amounts of different colors of food coloring to create colorful foam swirls, making it more visually engaging.
