
Glow in the Dark Jolly Rancher Candy Apples
Ingredients:
– 6 Granny Smith apples
– 6 wooden sticks
– 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
– 1/2 cup light corn syrup
– 1/2 cup water
– 15 Jolly Rancher hard candies (assorted colors)
– 1/2 teaspoon neon food coloring (green, blue, or pink)
– 1/2 teaspoon tonic water (for the glow effect)
Directions:
1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly grease it.
2. Insert wooden sticks into the tops of the apples, ensuring they are secure.
3. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the granulated sugar, light corn syrup, and water.
4. Stir the mixture until the sugar dissolves completely.
5. Add the crushed Jolly Rancher candies to the mixture.
6. Continue cooking and stirring occasionally until the candy mixture reaches 300°F (hard-crack stage) on a candy thermometer.
7. Once the desired temperature is reached, remove the saucepan from the heat.
8. Stir in the neon food coloring and tonic water until well combined.
9. Carefully dip each apple into the hot candy mixture, ensuring an even coating.
10. Let any excess candy drip off before placing the coated apples onto the prepared baking sheet.
11. Allow the candy apples to cool and harden completely before serving.
Tips & Variations:
– For an extra touch, consider adding edible glitter on top of the coated apples before they fully harden for a magical sparkle.
– Experiment with different colored food coloring for a variety of glow-in-the-dark effects at your next party or celebration.
